(TIML NEWS) Set to air via FX on March 24, and stream on Hulu a day later, the third series of Atlanta will see the cast travel to Europe as Paper Boi (Brian Tyree Henry) embarks on a tour. The new preview hints at how cultural differences lead to comedic misunderstandings and typically-surreal encounters.
“Season three finds Earn (Glover), Alfred/Paper Boi, Darius (LaKeith Stanfield), and Van (Zazie Beetz) in the midst of a successful European tour,” explains the official synopsis from FX. “The group navigate their new surroundings as outsiders, and struggle to adjust to the newfound success they had aspired to.”
The new season of Atlanta first got the green light in 2018, but has long been delayed due to Glover’s schedule and COVID restrictions. In 2019, he directed and acted in the Rihanna-starring Guava Island, and voiced Simba in Disney’s remake of The Lion King. In 2020, he released his fourth Childish Gambino album, 3.15.20.
Season four of Atlanta is also already in the works. Drawing a comparison between the new episodes of his show and the “boring” TV currently on offer back in May, Glover wrote that the two new seasons are “going to be some of the best television ever made… Sopranos only ones who can touch us”.
