Say Word..Cardi B Might Land Role In ‘The Nanny’ Reboot

(TIML NEWS) Reboots, revivals, and spinoffs are all the rage in Hollywood at the moment. Now, another one is coming viewers’ way starring the No. 1 hip-hop star in America. On Monday (Oct. 15), Fran Drescher announced her plans to cast Cardi B as her daughter in the reboot of the iconic 90s sitcom The Nanny.

In a sit-down interview with Extra, the Queens native said, “She started it because she kind of paid homage to me, putting our pictures side by side when she was wearing animal print, and it was me in animal from The Nanny and that just went viral, that got my creative juices going.”

The 61-year-old entertainer also stated that Cardi’s “got a funny voice, too. Have you ever heard her speak … so what kind of a great mother/daughter would we be? Amazing, I think.”

The idea was previously co-signed by Cardi on Instagram, writing, “I’m with it.” Drescher says she is “now talking to her representation” and that it is “really getting me excited. It’s fresh, and it could be super fun.”

If this plan goes forth, this would be Cardi B’s second acting gig. In 2017, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper appeared in an episode of BET’s Being Mary Jane where she played a fictional version of herself named Mercedes.

The self-proclaimed “regular-degular-shmegular” rapper has plenty of comedic chops to accompany the mega-popularity she attained via her hilarious Instagram clips.

With the pending series regular gig, Cardi might join Queen Latifah and Eve as a few of the women artists in hip-hop who made the transition to sitcom stardom. Taking the memo from The CW’s 2008 reboot of 90210, Cardi, an Afro-Latina woman, can add some diversity to the predominantly white show.
