(TIML NEWS) Hurricane Maria lashed out on Puerto Rico in late 2017, killing a reported estimate of 3,000 people and depleting this U.S.A. territory of its resources. In recent tweets, Donald Trump has questioned the legitimacy of these death toll numbers, accusing Democrats of lying to make him look bad.

Late night show hosts like Trevor Noah and Stephen Colbert used their media platforms to call out Trump’s appalling and deeply insensitive response to the deaths that accumulated in wake of the storm.

On The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, the South African comedian said, “You see what the president doesn’t seem to understand is that the effects of a hurricane last long after the storm has already passed, like the people on the Titanic, who froze in the water still died because of the crash. The iceberg wasn’t like ‘I didn’t kill nobody, I just scraped some paint off a boat, you can take that other sh*t up with the ocean man.

Stephen Colbert of The Late Show began his nightly monologue by demonizing POTUS’ lack of response to Hurricane Florence, a superstorm currently working its way through the Carolinas and his hyper focus on Maria, a storm that took place almost a year ago.

“Now, folks, if you watch the show, you know we kid the president about being a terrible person,” he said. “But in reality, it is much worse than we could have imagined. Trump has been laser-focused on hurricane response this week, just not this one. He’s talking about the one a year ago because he’s been tweeting a lot about how good a job he did responding to Hurricane Maria that decimated Puerto Rico last year, resulting in the death of almost 3,000 American citizens. It’s hard to imagine anything more horrible than that, other than this tweet . . . I just wanna state that not only is this a sickening tweet, it is in no way true.”

Noah and Colbert then went on to explain how the study done by George Washington’s Milken Institute School of Public Health, found that 2,975 deaths were a result of the storm and its effects. While being without power thousands of people died due to injury and lack of healthcare resources. This Twitter rant also arrives after Trump allocated almost $10,000,000 from FEMA (The Federal Emergency Management Agency) to ICE (The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
