(TIML NEWS) Lebron James and his business partner Maverick Carter have announced they are recreating the 1990s hit movie, House Party.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, their production company, Springhill Entertainment, is in charge of the recreation, with help from screenplay writers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori — both of whom work on Donald Glover’s hit series, Atlanta.
LeBron, himself, says his version of the film will not be a reboot. “This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” he told THR. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”
So far, there’s no word on who will be cast in the movie, but LeBron could make a cameo.
The original House Party released in 1990, with hip-hop duo Kid ‘N Play in the lead roles. Following its success, two sequels followed in 1991 and 1994.
There is no word yet on when the remake will be released, but we can say with 100% certainty it’s in the works.
