(TIML NEWS) In the late 1980s, when Mike Tyson was known as the “Baddest Man on the Planet”, he was immortalized in digital form via the classic NES game, Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!. FYI This was favorite Nintendo game other than Super Mario Brothers. And I beat Punch Out…..Final fight was with Mike Tyson.
This month is actually the 30th anniversary of the video game.
With that said, the fellas at GameSpot recently revisited the iconic video game, which helped define a genre and made Tyson one of the most notorious video game bosses in gaming history.
Given the milestone of the game, TMZ recently caught up with Tyson himself to ask him a few questions about the game. Surprisingly, he says he wasn’t a fan of it when it came out. “At the time Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! came out, I wasn’t a fan of the video games. Now, there’s video games all up in my room,” he explained. “I wasn’t a fan at the time. I had no idea it would be such a big entity.”
When asked who his favorite opponent in the game was, Tyson named the game’s very first character: Glass Joe. Why? Because “he was the only guy I could beat”, said Tyson.
“Glath Joe”
Ahh, Mike Tyson…second only to the entire game of Contra in the realm of NES rage-inducing obstacles…good times…
