(TIML NEWS) Nicki Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj is currently on trial in regards to charges of child rape against his 11-year-old stepdaughter. As opening statements have already begun, a new report suggests Nicki will attend trial to testify on her brother’s behalf. She is expected to inform the jury that the accuser’s mother (Miraj’s ex-wife) attempted to extort the rapper for $25 million, according to TMZ.
During opening arguments on Thursday (Oct. 19), Maraj’s attorney, David Schwartz reportedly told jurors that Maraj’s ex-wife, Jacqueline Robinson, told Nicki Minaj that she could “make the charges go away for $25 million,” TMZ reports.
In an attempt to further discredit the opposing party, Schwartz accused Robinson of coercing Maraj to marry her in order to extort his superstar sister. Schwartz also announced that Robinson allegedly forced her children to lie to authorities when questioned about the alleged rape, according to TMZ.
As previously reported, Maraj is being accused of raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter in 2015. Nicki has remained fairly silent about her brother’s legal matters, although she previously posted a photo of them together on Instagram earlier this year.
It is unclear when she will testify at this time.
