(TIML TECH) Chinese brand Huawei has just hit a major milestone, when it surpassed Apple in global smartphone sales for the first time.
According to Counterpoint Research (via The Verge), the leading Chinese smartphone maker recorded more sales than Apple in June and July. Exact numbers, however, are unknown.
This would Huawei behind only Samsung in sales, which Counterpoint credits to the company’s consistent investment in R&D and manufacturing, as well as creative marketing.
Despite its strong sales in China, it has a weak presence in the South Asian, Indian, and the North American markets… which could mean that the company may slip to third in the coming months, especially with the impending launch of the iPhone 8.
Huawei is also strong in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
If you’re an Apple loyalist, like me don’t worry. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus remain the world’s best-selling smartphones, while Huawei doesn’t have a single model that ranks in the top ten in units sold.
Would you give up your iPhone for a Huawei?
