(TIML NEWS) ABC Studios President Patrick Moran added, “We’re thrilled to welcome Larry Wilmore back to ABC Studios. We worked closely with Larry while we were developing Black-ish and are looking forward to what’s coming next from this incredibly talented writer/producer.”
The new multi-year agreement will bring Wilmore closer to the home of the Emmy-nominated Black-ish and benefit from the momentum from Issa Rae’s HBO sensation Insecure, which will be back for another adventure.
Comedic sage Larry Wilmore may have experienced a minor setback this year when his witty late-night series The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore was abruptly canceled by Comedy Central .
However, explicitly roasting President Obama at the 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, overseeing Black-ish and co-creating Insecure still give the 55-year-old funnyman a high grade for the year. And when you’re four decades deep in the business, being out of work really isn’t the motto inside his household.
To close out the year, Wilmore has signed an overall deal with ABC Studios that will enable him to not only create new projects but oversee existing ones and manage talent operations.
“I’m excited beyond words to be back at ABC and look forward to this creative partnership,” he says. “Disney took a chance on me as a young writer years ago and so I’m thrilled to return to the Mouse House. I hope my room still looks the same.” Sound off below!!
