Rihanna shone bright like a diamond at this year’s Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards.
Last night, Rihanna was awarded the 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award. The singer/fashionista wore a custom, barely there, Swarovski crystal, floor length, form-fitting gown with long gloves to match. The ensemble was custom-made for Ms. RiRi by designer Adam Selman.
Rihanna charmed the crowd with a sampling of light-hearted jokes directed to towards fashion legend and long-standing editor of fashion bible, Vogue Magazine, Anna Wintour and her rules for fashion. The Vogue editor both introduced and presented Rihanna with the award.
During her speech, Rihanna shared her views about fashion illustrated by a childhood motto, “she may be able to beat me but she can’t beat my outfit.” The singer also reminded us to not over think fashion saying “fashion should never be frustrating, it should be fun.”
