HBO is trying to increase the reach of “Game of Thrones” with a new… mixtape for the show,The Wall Street Journal reports. They’ve hired ten rappers and Latin-music artists—among them Big Boi, Common, Wale, Bodega Bamz, and Daddy Yankee—for a project called, amazingly, Catch the Throne. The mixtape will feature the rappers and singers over beats made from samples from the show.
“Twenty years ago, Wu-Tang was breaking ground,” Common told WSJ. “Nowadays, people are open to anything. There are no limitations to hip-hop culture.” (Sample Common lyric from the project: “I sit and think when I’m in my zone/ This life is like a Game of Thrones.”) Big Boi raps about Khaleesi, “the mother of dragons”; his song features the chorus “Dungeons, dragons, kings, and queens,” according to WSJ.
How many words rhyme with “Khaleesi”? We’ll find out on Friday, when the mixtape arrives free online.
